My kids are notorious for saying really rude things out loud in front of a crowd. Dan and I just avoid looking at eachother because we know if we make eye contact we will start laughing and that will be the end.
There have been times where we have waited until we were in the car to bust up and my kids are asking us, why aren't you driving? How come you guys are laughing so hard? We of coarse can't answer them because we are not breathing.

Just to give you some prime examples:
One time Dexter stood up on the seat in a very crowded Arbys got a very amused look on his face and said loudly, "fat people eat here too?" and then proceeded to point at someone. I didn't even look up I thought, there are no words right now.

Dan and I decided to take all our kids to get some ice cream and we were sitting there and a small person/midget, (seriously I don't know what is politically correct), walked by and Zeke said, " Oh my gosh! I am bigger than him and he is a man!" then he laughed and pointed. I again had no words.

I took my kids to play at a McDonald's play toy. The toy has a long tube slide coming off it. It does look a little small, an adult would barely make it through one. My table is right by that slide and Dexter and I are the only ones that are sitting and eating. We are just watching all the kids go down that slide. A little chubby girl, okay I am just going to be blunt, a very overweight little girl went down the slide. I was praying, please Dexter don't say anything, please just let him not see her. Whelp that didn't happen. As soon as she got to her feet he laughed and said, "look that fat girl made it through the slide." Then he goes back to eating like he didn't just emotionally scar this 6 year old. I just shook my head and thought, any minute I am going to get beat up by this girls mom.

I don't know where my kids exactly get this sense of humor. Dan and I do not make fun of people... in front of them. I am not going to pretend that I haven't seen something weird and made a comment to my husband at a later more private time. I mean Dexter loves to announce in church that he has to go poop and he needs to go now before it comes out of his butt. I don't ever announce my bathroom visits to my children. I don't feel like this is a learned habit, I am just going to go ahead and say they are just kids. That are mean sometimes.

Mascots Gone Wild!

How would you feel if you turned on your TV and saw Ronald McDonald air humping a customer? Would you think, wow I am really craving one of their Big Macs. Or, kids come in here and see what Mr. McDonald is doing, it's classic! Unless you are a drunken parent and found the humor, you would more than likely be upset.

I recently had the opportunity to do a commerical with Charlie Chuckar, the mascot from the Idaho Falls baseball team. The agent that told me about this job told me that I would be in an evening gown pretending to have dinner with Charlie. I agreed. The day of the shoot she called me again and said, we want you to be in the jacuzzi scene. I hesitated and then thought, it's gotta be harmless, I mean he is a mascot and he signs shirts and hats for kids through the whole game. So I said okay.

The director was over the top to say the least. I wanted to ask him what other work he had done before this commercial and there would be no shock if he were to say, oh well I dabbled in the porn industry for awhile.

I shot three scenes with Charlie that day and two out of the three scenes could maybe be okay for young adults to see. The last scene I did was meant for a 45 year old truck driver whose favorite channel is Spice. I had to snuggle up to Charlie in the hot tub and then he was told to suggestively tell the camera to go away and to give us some privacy. Keep in mind this is a full grown man in a bird costume who is chanting the whole time, this is for the kids, this is for the kids. Am I in a freaking nightmare right now? Yes, I am.

You would think this couldn't get any worse, but oh yes it does. I am not doing this alone. I am in the jacuzzi with my sister in law who is now told to sit on his lap! I thought she was going to drown herself right there and then. I felt horrible for the guy in the costume. When I asked him, how he was doing? He just said, I am glad I have a mask on because I am completely red right now. Of coarse you are, in a matter of five seconds you went from Charlie Chuckar to Woody the woodpecker. The director looked at my sister in law and said, you look uncomfortable. Is that weird? I mean she is sitting on a man who is dressed like a bird in the jacuzzi while people are filming it and all you can hear is, I'm doing this for the kids, I'm doing this for the kids. This was like a horror film.

Luckily my acting days were over with Charlie after that scene. I later heard the last scene that was shot the director actually made Charlie, the bird who is, just doing this for the kids, flip the camera off. Maybe instead of giving his autograph he can start drawing obscene pictures and we can really stir this shiz up!

So as you know I have been a little on edge and stressed. Talking to myself, breaking down in random places. So I have been looking for some sort of outlet. While I was driving my kids to school I heard on the radio that yoga can help with depression. After I talked myself into maybe considering that I have a little itty bitty teeny tiny bit of depression. I thought, okay I will try yoga.

I find out that yoga starts at 6 in the morning! What the...!

Now I can be depressed and tired! Yay! That is a great combo, I can tell the doctor, I didn't quiet complete the suicide because I was too tired to actually put some back into it. (This is a joke)

Wednesday morning I get to yoga a little late so I am embarrassed walking in. I walk in and I notice that everyone has a cute little mat that they are doing their yoga on. So I go into the little room with the mats and I find A mat but I guess it wasn't THE mat I needed. The instructor gives me one of those laugh sighs and says, honey, not this mat. Okay lady, I am in here to relieve stress and your ass isn't helpin!

So I am taking deep breaths and really trying to get into this whole relaxation thing with my leg over my head my hands up in the air and my face looking up at the ceiling or I'm sorry, gazing at the ceiling. I am just going to be completely honest and tell you that people who say this exercise is relaxing is LYING. I was in crazy positions and then told to hold that crazy position for 5 breaths.Now we're going to take all our limbs off the ground and levitate for 10 breaths.

I went through the poses I did probably 30 down dogs and by the end of the class I was lightheaded and on the verge of throwing up. The good news was that I was no longer thinking about how stressed I was. I was now thinking I have the body of an 80 year old man.

Maybe next time I can go from having an 80 year old body to a 60 year old body. Next week my goal is to actually reach my shins. Yea, I'm that bad.

Melancholy

Well what can I say, today has been a very interesting day. I am going to warn you this post is kind of depressing. So if you are on the verge of slitting your wrist, I wouldn't read it.

I have realized today that I am not coping with reality. I need to maybe Google this, but I think I have post traumatic stress. I keep saying to myself over and over, this didn't happen, this didn't happen. He is not really dead.

I could be walking down the street and then out of know where I am like this crazy drunken bag lady breaking down in front of people. So what would I be "googling"? Symptoms include : Having sudden panic attacks, not wanting to deal with reality, spontaneous crying, running 6, 7, 8 miles to release frustration, wants to kill her pet zebra finches, wants to punch someone in the face, wants to go away and rest for a good week. Is this normal? Oh I am not asking you, I am asking my crazy self. That is what us crazies do we talk to ourselves and answer our own questions. Sometimes I argue with myself. Shh, don't say that, they'll think we're crazy.

One thing that I don't want people to confuse, is that I am not sad over him being dead. I know he is in a better place. I know I will miss him. I am not melancholy because of that. The melancholy comes from watching him die. So even tho I know he is comfortable where he is and has had a joyous reunion with late family members. I still had to wait for all the organs to shut down in a healthy 31 year old. I still had to wait for him to take his last breath. I still had to hold my grieving mother. I still had to plan a funeral. I still had to write his eulogy. I still have to get up everyday and tell myself, this did happen, you are going to have to deal with this reality. What else can I do, but that. I am hoping that writing about it, helps.

It's not a bad dream, it really happened.

No Picnic

My morning was. . .not good. I was going to cuss but decided not to. I am just going to go ahead and say that being a stay at home mom is the hardest freaking job ever! You NEVER GET A DAY OFF! So this is my story, I get my kids dressed ready for school, I feed them breakfast, help get shoes on and then tell them to get into the truck so we can go. (The first time is always calmly said.) I have to drive and pick them up everyday. YUP, it sucks. I can hear my kids playing in our very dirty garage, so I yell out, GET IN THE TRUCK!( This warning has a little more of a scary tone in it.) Their reply was, WE CAN'T THE DOOR IS LOCKED. Oh No!( Satan now comes out) My purse and keys and spare key (long story) are in the truck. We were going to be on time but now we are not. I shockingly couldn't get a hold of Dan. I luckily live next door to family so I borrowed their vehicle and took my kids to school. Since they were late I had to sign them in and since it was early in the morning and I stayed up late watching The Bachelor, I was still in pajamas. I looked like the crypt keeper. Good morning everyone.

We get home walk in the door and Dexter throws up all over the floor. It is a mix of milk, cereal and slime? I was so grossed out. After cleaning up the mysterious vomit I tried to calm myself down with a little exercise on the treadmill, get some of this frustration out! I'm hitting my third mile I am really having to talk myself into staying on the treadmill, I am dodging toys that Kingston is throwing under my feet and then all of sudden the power goes out. My treadmill comes to a complete stop and I run myself into the treadmill. What else could go wrong?

The highlight of my day was when I was doing homework with my son and he stopped to tell me that his wiener was stuck to his balls. Thanks for that.

It's Just a Bullet to the Head

Growing up I was lucky enough to have a farm. It wasn't a traditional farm, it was more a suburban kind of farm. I absolutely loved animals and I would adopt unwanted cats.

They were outside cats by the way. I didn't live a hoarders life where there just might be a cat carcass under that pile of food over there. Excuse the shit on the ground, Smoky did that last week and I haven't gotten around to cleaning it up yet.

When looking for my own personal cat I would make sure to get the one that looked like it had at least two paws in the grave. The more sickly the better. I wanted to be able to give that cat a chance. I would take the runt/dying kitten home and nurse it back to health. I am so lucky that my mom also loved animals because bringing home a half dead ugly ass cat isn't ideal to most people. I am also lucky that I have never once had ring worm and I am glad humans can't get ear mites. I must had a stomach of steal growing up. It would eventually grow up to be this huge beautiful cat. I have probably raised over 70 cats that were not mine. We would go through cat food like crazy and my parents would wonder, How much are you feeding your cat? It looks like it's almost dead, it can't be eating that much. Little did they know.

Well the reason I tell this bit of information is to give you a little history on my love for all God's creatures. Except one that I want to stake out and shoot! There has been a dog that comes to our house every night and gets into our trash. If it would just pick up before it left I wouldn't want to skin it and use it as a coat. I know that I should put my trash can lids on tighter or on at all, but when it's -6 degrees outside one has to come up with ways to get their trash from the door to the trash can without actually leaving the comfort of ones home. I have mastered throwing a full bag of trash from my door to my trash can on the side of my house. I do not want to put on shoes or a coat to go outside and place the trash in the can like a normal person and struggle with snapping that lid on with my ice covered delicate hands. I want to be a warm trash throwing person with good aim.
One funny comment that came out of my 4 year old was, Yup, we have to kill the dog. I looked in my rear view mirror and gave a look of concern. He said it with no hesitation and with such ease. Whelp, shoot in the head so we can get to eating our sticky buns. I was quiet for a couple seconds thinking in my head, what do I say to that comment. After all I am sitting in the front seat saying I am going to KILL THAT DOG!! So, nothing to worry about until he is at least 10. He was only copying his animal lover mother. At least he would have helped me get rid of the body. I guess I am going to have to do something completely out of the box and put my trash cans in the garage.

For My Brother

Hello everyone, it’s good to see all my family here.

This is a hard time for all of us. Josh has touched all our lives in some way or another and it is sad that we are no longer going to enjoy his comical personality.

Anyone who knew Josh knows how funny he could be, even if it was at your expense.

Josh’s insults were funny, leaving people wondering if they should be laughing or crying. As a kid I found this kind of confusing because I didn’t know whether I should punch him or laugh at him.

I will never forget the time I was standing outside with Josh and my dad. Josh was getting ready to flick his lit cigarette on the ground and he looked at me and my dad with a serious face and said, “Look, a Mexican firework.” Josh then proceeded to flick his cigarette in the air and then he clapped. We all just laughed and knew that Josh showed a lot of his love through jokes and making fun of you.

I must have been really loved.

I had the privilege of growing up with a lot of nicknames from Josh. One nickname that showed that he loved me a lot was Little Ethiopian Man. Apparently I was really skinny and I had a mustache. That nickname did wonders for my preteen self esteem and that nickname stuck for quite awhile.

I will never forget the day we were leaving to Disneyland with my parents. Not because I was going to meet Mickey and Minnie or have a ton of fun on the rides. Those were only perks to what was about to happen right before the trip to Josh. Josh and I were standing outside waiting for my mom and dad to come out. Josh was throwing this plastic brush in the air and catching it. He did it over and over again. Being an impatient little girl, I was annoyed with waiting for my parents to come outside; therefore I wanted to take my frustration out on Josh with that brush. I ended up not having to even move a muscle. Josh threw the brush in the air again for the 20^th time and that brush came down and hit Josh right in the mouth. It made a loud crack sound and when he looked at me in shock half his tooth was missing. I laughed until I cried. Not having time to find a dentist to get it fixed, Josh went through the whole trip with a chipped tooth.

Josh has gotten me into some pretty hairy situations but was always there to help me get out of them. One situation that actually hurt quiet bad was when he egged on our next door neighbor to, “Let me have it” Josh and I were having a tripping war with the neighbor kid. I won that war with the neighbor and Josh was giving this kid a hard time about it. I started to walk away and when I turned around to tell Josh to shut up the neighbor boy punched me right in the face. My face immediately swelled up. I looked up at my brother thinking, “I am going to tell dad, right now!” But before I could do that Josh turned around to the neighbor boy and punched him right in the face. He broke that kids nose and redeemed himself with me.

Josh did something for me that I don’t think he knew he did. I can thank Josh for all the times I had potential dates. Because of my ability to skateboard, play drums and listen to punk music it opened the doors to a lot of conversations with the opposite sex. Thank you Josh, you helped me get my husband.

Josh’s life was taken suddenly and violently. We could almost say that it wasn’t fair that he was taken in such a violent way and why did this happen? As I searched for my answers with books, scriptures and prayer I found an answer, or more a question that stuck out to me. To put it into the words of Job, “Shall any teach God knowledge?” He knows what he’s doing. He has this great and wonderful perfect plan for all of us. We all should remember that God grants life and everything that sustains life. Each marvelous moment is both a mystery and miracle. While we mourn, we should not take life’s wonder for granted.

Josh will forever be missed but I know in the right time, I will meet Josh again. We will all meet Josh again and he’ll make us all laugh, again.

I HATE, HATE!

I am ANGRY when I hear news about another teenager who has taken their own life due to bullying. Recently a 13 year old boy took his life because someone wrote that he was gay on Facebook. Why do kids do this? Who is teaching them to Hate? We teach our kids that being gay is wrong but did we forget to mention that hate is wrong and making someone feel less is wrong and guess what kids, mommy has a prescription problem and daddy is having an affair at work. All big problems! No sin is little. Every sin is looked at. No unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God. So right now that means you and you and you! Oh, and me!! I can only imagine that this is a strike on our part. We have failed to LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. Again.

Searching and Blogging

I haven't been sharing my writing for too long, but just in this short period I have come to realize that it is a great outlet. It also helps me to keep thinking. I am a stay at home mom who raises four very different intelligent children and I home school two of them. I donate plasma on the occasion to get my fix on buying things with no guilt.

Throughout my blogging experience I have been venturing out and looking at different blogs. ALL kinds of blogs. The funny, offensive, safe, boring, creative, food, dumb, exciting, the blogs that I would love to write but can't, weird, true, liberating, social and bashing blogs that bash on a either a person, subject, object or religion.

I read these blogs hoping that some of their talent will rub off on me. Some I don't care for and some I think, Geeze they should be writing for The New Yorker! While searching for a funny picture to send to my friend of a animal dressed up. (I know weird) I came across a funny one with a dog in a thong laying on the couch with sunglasses. I saved it and sent it to her, well when I went to close the picture I noticed that the picture came from a blog. I started looking at her blog and realized that she had a lot of posts bashing the LDS religion. I thought Hey, what do ya know, I am LDS!! The weird thing about this is that one of my favorite bloggers also has ill feelings toward the LDS religion. So, I started to read it.

Now, now don't be worried about my faith being shaken. I have read and watched every Anti-Mormon piece of literature that there is out there. I am not easily persuaded. Just a little fact about me, it took me five sets of missionaries and four years to join the church and I went both ways, anti and active.

After reading some of her posts on the issue I realized that the main reason why she hates the LDS church is because of their stand on gays. Even though I am a different faith then my mom and dad and we believe in different beliefs there is one thing that they taught me at a very young age that I will always live by. Love everyone.

So anyways, this girl was actually a pretty good writer and somewhat funny. I was looking at her side column at all the things she liked and all the websites she liked and I came across one that was...you could say, eye catching. It was called, LDS Skinny Dipper Connection. Okay I am sorry but I looked. Basically this website is for "faithful" LDS people who like social nudity under appropriate circumstances. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Okay?

So you would think my first response would be, This is wrong and sick! Whelp no, it was, I wonder who had the guts to have an idea like this and then put it on the internet? Since it is an "appropriate" LDS nude site there were no nude pictures or anything crude for that matter in fact there were a ton of scriptures on how it is okay to be nude cause Adam and Eve were. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Okay?

There are actually testimonials on 40 something year old men "coming out of the closet" and confessing their love to be nude in public. When I read 40 years old I thought, ewww. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I am almost positive that President Monson does not condone this website. I don't know though, that's just my opinion.

Who is Your God?

What is your religion? I hear that question a lot. I even had a comment made to me that I must be Mormon cause I have four children and I look young. I said, "no, I'm Catholic." The guy who said it started laughing for some reason. He didn't believe me. I wonder why?

Sometimes I feel that LDS people are uptight that even if an "investigator" (all you Mormons know what that means) wanted to ask questions about our religion, they would be too scared to approach any of us for fear of getting kicked by our horse. I would like to say that most LDS people I know aren't like this, but sadly the majority I know, are. They are very black and white. I am a pretty open person, I feel. I talk to a lot of different people who are not LDS. I had an opportunity to talk to a 23 year old woman who was agnostic. At first she was scared to tell me her religion or lack thereof. She thought I would judge her or get it confused with atheist. Previous conversations revealed to her that I was LDS. She gave me a look and long sigh of, "Oooo" She wasn't rude or distant after finding that out, but it made me curious to what religion she was. So I asked. She said I am agnostic. I said, what do you believe exactly. I just met her like 2 hours before this conversation so I wasn't sure how she would take some Mormon goody goody(yea right) asking her about her non-religion beliefs. Luckily for me, cause I like to learn, she was totally open.

To make it short and simple, not really, she beliefs in nothing. She needs proof for believing in whatever it is to believe in. I said I didn't believe that. Still with me? She said one thing to me that made me feel sorry for her. Which I hate saying cause she was fine with the way she was living and I am sure she doesn't want or need anyone feeling sorry for her, but, she said, she doesn't believe that a true father would banish any of his children if he really loved them. Let me re-write that. She doesn't believe that a Father would banish any of His children if He really loved them. I had no response for her at that time. I wasn't trying to be a missionary. I was trying to learn something new. All I knew and felt in my heart was that she. was. wrong.

The fact that she doesn't feel the love from any higher power like a Heavenly Father, God, Jehovah, Allah, Shiva, or Vishnu or whatever it is that people believe in and give their lives for, is sad and empty. What is my purpose here? Why am I here? Where will I go after this life? (I swear I am not reading pass a long card) She has taught her children that there is a mother of the earth and father time. No mention of anyone Greater loving them no matter what they did wrong. Right now I have so many smart butt comments that I could make to that, but I have chosen not to cause I am trying to be open and not pig headed. All and all she was really interesting to talk to and she had a pretty good head on her shoulders. I hope one day she gets more light in her life.

I didn't completely keep my mouth shut the whole time, anyone that knows me, knows that it is impossible for me. I told her, without her asking, what I believed, without scaring her off, I wanted her to listen. I will tell you now even though you aren't asking either. I believe that people should be good to each other. I believe God knows all our hearts and he loves us unconditionally. I feel like I bore my testimony just enough for her to keep listening to me. Few words, great impact.

Too Much Info on the Facebook

Sometimes your comments on Facebook can be too much information. I don't think anyone cares if you did laundry,or went to the store, unless you found a great deal and you want to share the wealth. The mother of all nonsense is the "not in a relationship anymore" or some crap like that. Do you really want all these people that you probably don't talk to a ton know that you are no longer with the person that you have pictures plastered all over your Facebook of. People who are getting a divorce keep it to your self and your family. There is always going to be that one person in your family who deserved to hear it from your spoken word that doesn't and gets very upset...like your child. It is depressing, not that you are getting a divorce, but that you decided to share it on Facebook with everyone. We all know that when one of your friends makes a comment on that status, then all their friends see it too...and so on...and so on.

For all the woman that need the recognition. I am so happy that you got all your house cleaning done today and your laundry and I am so glad that you baked cookies for the homeless. Way to make other woman feel like they are worthless and not good enough.

This is just common sense, don't complain about your boss or job on Facebook, someone who knows your boss will see it and will tell them.

I am guilty of this next one, I talk about my kids. I put funny little things that they say on my status. I can't help it sometimes I think my family will get a kick out of what they say. Careful for the, this day my life changed so much, my little boy/girl was born and I was filled with even more life. A simple Happy Birthday would suffice, and even then, Why? If they have a Facebook and they might see it then I can see doing that. If they are 2 years old, I don't see it. Unless you are trying to get your family to remember, then props to you on the sneakiness.

Please don't put poems on your status I have a really bad habit of having to read them and I don't enjoy it. Most of the time they aren't very good. If you want to share stuff like that then get yourself one of those websites that you can write on and tell how you feel, I think they are called a blog. Leave the sappy stuff in your head!

Bullies vs.Moms

So is it bad that I wanted to beat up a nine year old the other day? Yes, I am 28 years old and have four kids.

The other day at one of our t-ball games I was watching Zara and Dexter play t-ball and Zeke was climbing a tree near by. Well I am trying to keep an eye on the game and on Kingston who is running around, all at the same time. I finally look over at Zeke to make sure he is still on that tree and when I look, I see this punk kid push Zeke and then put him in a head lock and throw him on the ground. I felt my heart speed up in about 3 seconds. I was thinking in my head, "kid you better run cause you messed with the wrong kid." I was beyond livid. I couldn't control my anger.

I am trying to get over to Zeke as fast as I can with Kingston running behind me, I have a soft cooler on my shoulder full of ice and water and it is slowing me down. (probably a good thing) I get there and I say, "DON'T YOU EVER TOUCH HIM AGAIN!" Zeke goes, "Mom he hit me." I said, "NOT YOU! YOU!! I BETTER NEVER SEE YOU TOUCH MY SON AGAIN!" I am pointing at him and yelling and I am thinking if your mom is around there will probably be a fight. The kid just took off and ran. Zeke said that the reason they were beating him up was because they wanted to climb that tree. Zeke is also begging to be enrolled into karate.

You would think my run-ins would be over with little kids, but they're not, Oh... I had one at McDonald's. This little boy, again, who is older than Zeke kept slapping Zeke in the face every time Zeke went by. Well Zeke gets off the play thingy and comes over with a red hand mark on his face. He said, "that kid right there keeps slapping me every time I go by him for no reason." I again got mad, went to get up and then noticed a fairly large woman with tats all over her arms come over and tell this little boy that it was time to go home. Ah ha, of coarse that is his mother. The friend I was with advised me not to say anything unless I wanted to get my butt kicked. I was thinking she probably could take me out but I would get a few good hits in. haha j/k. Instead of bringing out the "finger" to point and yell I just gave him the dirtiest look I could give while he got his Sponge Bob shoes on.

WOW, I think I need some anger management classes.

Unconditional Love

As mothers we are programmed to love our children unconditionally... well some of us. I am not saying that I respect or condone this, but when I hear of a mother/wife run out on her family, I can very, very slightly see why. To me that is cowardly. But, we cannot judge that person. We have no clue what was going on in her life and really it is none of our business, plus her child could have been the spawn of Satan. Still not condoning it.

There are days however where I can't believe that I have to deal with these neurotic midgets. Do they not understand that if they are screaming and hitting and yelling at me, that they are probably not going to get pizza or anything else that they want. I have been told by one of my sons, " I will stop bugging you when you give me what I want!" OH NO YOU DI'NT! Sometimes I am so embarrassed, by the way they treat me or their siblings in front of other people. I just sit there silently like a deer in the wilderness trying not to get shot.

Like today for example, I work trade at an athletics club. So I don't get paid but I do get a free membership and all the employee discounts. Well anywho, my kids were horrible! It was like little demons got into their midget bodies and took over. I was in shock and severely embarrassed.

So this is what happened. My kids are driving me crazy (all 4) I am trying to keep my cool. Other peoples kids are driving me crazy. Oh did I forget to mention, I work in the nursery. So I am about to blow and instead I try to talk it out and I look at my son and say, " You are acting like you are adopted!" as soon as I said it I realized that I just said that right in front of my boss. I heard some giggles and I look up to see if she had stones to throw at me and instead she was looking at her phone busting up laughing. I was glad that she didn't yell or fire me and also that there were no adopted kids in there at that time.

Maybe next week I can make some kind of racial slur or call some kid fat.

Just to clarify about the adoption comment, I wasn't meaning that adopted kids are bad I was meaning, who raised you, cause I didn't raise you like this.

Remember to be Courteous to Others

Call me crazy, and I know not very many people do this. If you are standing at a crosswalk looking like you want to cross the street, I am going to stop. It is the law and it is courteous. What is not courteous, is when you really don't want to cross and you are just standing there smoking a cigarette giving the impression that you do want to cross.

So when you see me stop in the middle of the road and stare at you like an idiot, it's because I think I am doing you a favor by obeying the law, when a crosswalk is occupied you need to stop. Here is another crosswalk pet peeve. You are standing there wanting to cross, but you are also waiting on your slow friend, so you can cross together. Guess who else is waiting? There has even been times where I have been waved on. Like, No, no we aren't ready yet. Go ahead and go we will cross at our convenience. Don't stand right by the road in the crosswalk holding an orange flag if you aren't ready yet.

I saw a 20/20 where the cop pulled over every person that didn't stop at the crosswalk. I am now paranoid. If you even look like you are going to use it I will stop. Please be quick about it. It's not like, I don't want to run you over, it's more I don't want to get a ticket.

Words cannot describe how I feel about The Family Channel. What message are we trying to send out to young adults? To be immoral to sleep around to get what you want, lie and cheat, be mean to girls that aren't as pretty as you or that are different, it's okay to sleep with your teacher, if you didn't know he was your teacher at first. I am absolutely disgusted. I do not have cable/satellite, I watch all my shows that I care to watch on hulu. To me it is a waste of money and your kids might accidentally watch porn on Sesame Street. (very exaggerated) or Heaven forbid they stumble upon The Family Channel.

I am not even upset about the actual shows, it's the channel that they are aired on. Why is it called The Family Channel? I can only imagine the people approving the shows like Secret Life of an American Teenager and a new one that just came out Pretty Little Liars. These shows are worse then Desperate Housewives and they make Friends look like a Saturday morning cartoon.

I am sooo not innocent when it comes to the type of movies that I watch. They aren't all G but I am not popping popcorn and downing beer while watching them with my kids who are still having a hard time knowing what is and what isn't reality. When I was younger The Family Channel played shows like, 7th Heaven and Full House. What happened to some wholesome corny jokes by Joey? I am very disappointed and I am surprised more people haven't commented on the content on this channel. I am slapping a huge stamp of disapproval on this channel, unless they would like to change the name to SPIKE for Woman.

If your young daughter ever does happen to like these types of shows it might be a great teaching opportunity for you. You can sit with her while watching the show and explain how this isn't real life. When you are pregnant in high school the father doesn't always come over every night to help you put the baby in bed. Sometimes he completely ignores you and finds a new girlfriend without a baby in the belly. YOU GAIN WEIGHT WHEN YOU'RE PREGNANT!

If I ever went up to my mom when I was in high school and said, "I totally showed that girl, I slept with her boyfriend. Now she will never mess with me." My mom would slap me silly and say, "What kind of person are you and who are you going to become as an adult? I am worried for you" NOT, "Oh, honey that wasn't nice I don't think you should have done that." WHHHAAAPPPP! Someone smack that mother.

I wouldn't be playing with fire moms I would be thinking of a different way to teach your daughter about life cause lets face it, the girls on t.v. are much cuter and way more popular then we are. I am praying that I can teach my daughter to have a good head on her shoulders and extreme respect for herself.

Dear Tooth Fairy...

Zara lost her first tooth yesterday. After a couple weeks of wiggling and complaining, the sucker finally came out on it's own, without the use of a door and string or pliers.

After the excitement of losing her tooth was over, the first words that came out of her mouth were the worries of every 5 year old, "How much do you think I can get for this tooth?" Then I said, "Well the going rate is $1, so go and put it under your pillow so you don't lose it. Cause if you lose the tooth then the tooth fairy will not bring you any money." She obviously didn't listen to me and lost the tooth at...school. That night, no money. I felt like she needed to learn a lesson from her actions. Her first lost tooth which is a symbol of her becoming a big girl, and she doesn't get to enjoy the experience cause her mom is a mean woman. She should start calling me mommy dearest (great movie).

So this morning Zara wrote the tooth fairy a note. I was very impressed with her writing skills. She didn't get that from me but I do have a mother who could have been a college professor if she had the chance, so I am thinking it is from her. The note was lengthy and full of misspelled words but endearing. I thought, I am mean. Zara was asking for another chance and she explained that she lost her tooth at school and that she is sorry she didn't listen to her mom. For a second I thought, is she trying to play me? That quality she would have gotten from me.

So tonight I have decided to take her note and leave a little note of my own.

Dear Zara,
Thank you for the note. I understand that you lost your tooth at school. That is what happens when you don't listen to your mom. You should listen all the time because she knows what is best for you. When you start dating your mom will know who you should date and who you shouldn't date. She will know what clothes to wear and what clothes to stay away from completely. If you promise to listen to your mom all the time, then I will leave a dollar under your pillow if not then I will send The Rock to come and collect it back.

So before I need to change my blog title from You've Got This, to You Don't Got This, but, You Can Bitch About It Later or Aricka's Blog of Negativity, I need to change my posts up a bit. So I am going to share some of the products that I use and enjoy.

Moroccan Oil- This product was used on me by my hair girl. She put this stuff on my hair after a haircut and it made my hair so, so soft and smell good. The next day I kept smelling something good around me and then realized that it was my hair. After a couple of weeks I decided to drop the dough to purchase some of this heaven in a bottle. After all a 3-4 oz bottle is around $40.00. Ouch I know, but it is well worth it. Heaven on your head.

Crest Whitening Strips- I have tried a number of teeth whitening routines and found that Crest Whitening Strips are going to be the best product that you will find in the grocery store. The best part is that they don't take the enamel off of your teeth and you see almost instant results. This product was a must after my braces came off.

The Box Book- Leadership and Self Deception- Getting out of the Box. This book should be read by every parent, grandparent, teacher, boss, friend, anyone in a leadership position and most importantly people who do not think they need to read it. I have read it 3 times and every time it helps me out of the box, for a bit.

Everlast Punching Bag- This is a great stress relief for me. Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed or a little annoyed I just go into my garage and let loose. It is also a great workout. Double Bonus!!

Laziness, My Number One Pet Peeve

How do I put this nicely? I don't know much about this type of bike, I am sure there are a few reasons why people feel the need to ride these in public. Recumbent bicycles. Are stupid looking. I was driving home from the gym after a very hard workout that did include a normal stationary upright bike. I am at a red light waiting for the go, I look over to my left and see a woman on a bike. My eyes shift down a bit and I see a man on a Recumbent bike. The woman's husband/boyfriend/male friend was sitting there like an idiot waiting to cross the street. I am pretty sure the look on my face was disgust and I shook my head, noooo. If I were her I would be a couple miles ahead so I didn't have to be next to this guy on a trike.

I don't know why, but when I see people riding these I want to scream out the window, "YOU'RE CHEATING!! THAT DOESN'T LOOK HARD, GET A REAL BIKE!!!" If you can sit down and read a magazine while exercising you're cheating yourself. If your butt doesn't hurt after a long ride then it doesn't count. In my great always right opinion you should be thinking about the area you are working and mentally trying to focus on it. Not relaxing.

Pros and Cons of a Recumbent Bike:

Pros

Seat is more comfortable
People that have back, wrist, or neck injuries can continue to enjoy riding a bicycle
These stupid bikes hold the human power speed records. But, the USCF will not recognize these records over a upright bike. They don't count.
This one made me laugh out loud. If you crash you don't fall very far. It is almost impossible to go over the handle bars.

Cons

You need "Recumbent legs" to make it up a hill. Which usually will take you three months to get.
They are stupid looking
You look lazy
You look like you can't ride a normal bike
When you are that low to the ground, people can't see you.
You can't really turn around to see behind you cause you are leaned back in your recliner.
You look lazy. Yes, I repeated myself cause for me this is the number one reason why I can't stand these types of bikes.
They are stupid looking
Umm, did I mention that you look lazy?

Real quick, another piece of transportation that I have a hard time with are, Segways. Cops are now using these to chase down the bad guys. Just a quick thought, uhh, what if the criminal does something outrageous like go down a flight of stairs? What is the cop going to do then, leave his Segway on the ground while he runs after the bad guy on foot. Do people know how to run anymore? Right. This world is full of laziness.

School Functions aka I Want to Punch Myself In the Face!

So I did have another post written but I erased it due to the violent content. I pretty much was venting on an outrageous amount of school functions that I have gone to in the last four weeks with children who do not want to be there. Basically it boils down to these four points 1.) School functions were created to see if moms would beat their children in public. 2.) To see if moms would beat themselves in public 3.) To see if you love your child enough to endure an hour of whatever the ~~non-talented~~ teachers came up with. Last but not least 3.) They were denied their 57 million dollar bond so naturally in 6 months they will bring up another ridiculous amount and they want us to see how tiny their gym is when they cram over a 100 people in it. Hoping that we will realize that they really do need a gym that will fit General Conference in it.

Disclaimer: I don't think all teachers are non- talented. I do want a nice school for my kids but I want the school to be held accountable for their spending. It is really easy to spend other peoples money and I don't mean to get all preachy right now, but, the church told us to stay out of debt. Enough said.

Talented Little People

Zara is almost 6 and Dexter just turned 4 and yesterday they both conquered a huge skill. They learned how to ride their bikes with no training wheels. I know Zara is a little old and should have learned a long time ago but, she didn't. O-well, now she knows and we are passed the, "O crap!! she's 10 and still has training wheels!!!" Maybe she will even get a date to prom. Dexter is a determined little man. He just got on Zeke's bike and off he went. Dan took about 2 minutes (not joking) to teach him to ride. He is a natural at most things. Yes, I think my kids are the bomb.

Just Don't Do It!

To the special little RITARD who is so close to me, that if I even think about tapping my breaks, you would run right into me. Calm Down!! I am annoyed that I can see you in my rear view mirror swerving in and out of traffic in and out in and out!! You're cutting everybody off and you think you are cool. At least that is what I get from your style of driving, one hand on the steering wheel, laid back like you are about to watch a movie in a recliner with popcorn or you're about to get a pedicure. That probably suits you best.

AND....... there is a BIG AND! You are driving an old ladies car while wearing a BYU hat backwards you special little ritard. Wow. I have nothing against old lady vehicles. I used to drive a Crown Victoria with Tapia in old english on the back window. I loved that car. Payed off, I wouldn't get hurt if I were in a wreck, it had velvet seats, It was the size of a boat and my husband and brother- in- law were nice enough to make a sticker with my maiden name written in old english for the back window.

I have nothing against BYU, but we all know that kids coming from that school aren't dangerous. Some might drink, some might swear, some might even have a full beard and mustache. You are still not dangerous. Remember when you are riding someone that close you could cause a horrible wreck and kids may be involved and if kids are involved you may have a mom who turns into the incredible hulk/Satan right in front of your eyes and drills your skinny special little body into the ground right in front of every person who is watching, with no shame. So you special tiny little ritard, DON'T RIDE SO CLOSE BEHIND ME, I HAVE PRECIOUS CARGO ON BOARD!!! You hear me you special little ritard?

So do you ever go to the store and not want to talk or deal with anyone? Avoid eye contact? Most of my shopping trips are that way. I love to walk into the store grab what I need and hit the self- check out line. I don't have time to let a checker check my stuff out anymore and really, I don't want to hear about your grand-kids. My kids are screaming and raising hell cause they want to leave just as much as I do. Even at the library you can check out your own books. You don't have to deal with the dude sitting behind the desk giving you the stank eye cause your two year old is pulling every book off the shelf. Which he has pulled off some interesting ones. Such as: The First Hispanic Woman Pilot. Hmmm...

Early Tuesday about 7 in the morning I had to run into Albertsons for some cereal and milk. I needed to hurry so I could get back to Zeke and feed him and send him on his little way to school. I am rushing through the isles grabbing stuff and putting it into my cart, I am done so I hurry towards the self- checkout line and right when I am about to get there this lady says, " Did you find everything you need? I can help you right here." Crap!!! She's super old too! I wanted to say, "Yes, I found everything and no you can't help me." I can't say that, I'm too nice. So she is pulling things out of my cart one at a time and telling me a story in between each item. Beep... I watched my grandkids the other day for my daughter. Beep...She went on vacation with her husband. Beep...She was so surprised that I got them off to school on time. Not happening for me today! Beep...She asked me what I did to make that happen. At this point I wanted to grab the rest of my items out of my cart and chuck them back into the isles. I was regretting the raspberries I got. Beep...I just told my grand kids if any of you are late I am going to make you clean all the toilets.

Then when she finally got done checking all my regretted items, she held my receipt hostage until she finished her story. My hand was in the air wanting to grab it and I was staring at her like, what in the hell lady I have to leave!!! My kid is going to go to school starved cause I would rather him miss breakfast and catch the bus so I don't have to load up my other three children and drive him. Yes, I just said that. I am never going to Albertsons again unless there is a plentiful of very old people who want to have those five minute conversation with the checkers.

From rural to urban areas, ever-growing populations of people are losing their sense of community. National chains continue to divide and conquer the small business. How is our economic well-being impacted? Our shopping habits are much like a non-existent five minute abs workout; we want it in as little time as possible and we want what we think is the best value for our money. But the reality is our outlooks are only as correct as the scope of information creating them, and face it, humans like short-cuts.
Small retailers sift and go through catalog after catalog looking for items that will be appealing to their customers. They put effort into what they are ordering because they know unlike the national chains; if the product doesn’t sell it will just sit on the shelf. While a huge corporate retail store might carry a plentiful of items an independent retailer carry a smaller selection which creates great diversity. I have found when I am looking for quality items; they are usually NOT mass produced. They are ran by the mom’s and pop’s who take their time and care.
Yes, I am guilty of shopping at these chain stores. One of my favorite stores is The Buckle. I will probably have some affiliates drop me because of this post. I mean no disrespect to the big guys, but I suggest to people looking for cool new trendy styles to stop looking in the bulk section, and start looking for the independent businesses that make our towns run. We aren’t cows in stalls! We aren’t Stepford Wives! We don’t all need to look the same.
Here is one little solution to this huge problem. There is a store tucked away in Idaho Falls that has cute clothes, accessories and a great boutique vibe, Urban Chic. In my opinion this store is one step ahead in style. You will walk out of there knowing that not everyone and their mother will have the shirt you just bought. I bought a crocheted headband there for the winter and I got asked a million times, where I got it. Well the cat is out of the bag! I got it at Urban Chic in the mall next to Dillard’s. After being asked so many times I made sure I went back in there and cleaned out there headbands. With that being said, don’t be afraid to tell your friends about this store, the likelihood of you getting the same thing is very low. And guess what?! They have new spring headbands that are just as cute, and guess what else? I am going to go and clean those out as well. So you better hurry and beat me.
Urban Chic’s owner is a nice young girl that has style and takes her time picking out clothing that she feels will make people come back and feel special. If you haven’t had the chance to get into Urban Chic I recommend taking a friend and go check out these latest styles. They don’t carry in bulk so whatever you want won’t last long. (Especially those headbands) Not only are you going to look uniquely stylish you are also helping an independent business owner. Alice and Pukeland

Somewhat of a bad night last night. Hold on real quick, I need to change my violin strings. First, we went to Alice and Wonderland and it was just, okay, I was expecting a lot more mystical creatures. I wanted Tim Burton to just wipe his far-out brain clean of any abnormal characters he had and slap it into that movie. I wanted to be squirming in my seat and ready to throw up when the movie was over. As Dan and I were sitting there waiting for the movie to start, (I made Dan get there 55 minutes early), I was noticing the people, kids and of coarse babies, Of coarse you should bring your one year old to a 3D Alice in Wonderland movie. It only cried for about 10 minutes during the movie. Well I started to see that this movie must not be as twisted as I wanted it to be. Too many young kids. It was all FHE up in that joint! I would have felt better with the company of some members of Hells Angels or some ex-cons, tattoos and piercings would have been nice. People that have come to see some CRAZZY Alice and Wonderland. So now there are two things going through my head. One, I am going to see some crying coming out of these kids, or two, Dan is going to see some crying coming out of me. I have been waiting for this movie to come out from the first time I saw the cardboard cutout in the movie theater lounge. Luckily for Dan I didn't cry and the only kids that were crying were the ones that got in for free. There were a few things that kept my tears from coming; 1.) Johnny Depp was in the movie and played a wonderful Mad Hatter 2.) The Mad Hatter had a strong resemblance to Madonna, therefore made it a little more twisted 3.) The dress and costumes were magnificent. Straight out of Vogue magazine. It was overall good. I do recommend seeing it in 3D.

We then come home from the movie and it's 9:30 so the kids are in bed and asleep. That is the best about going out in the evening. Someone else puts your kids to bed. I take my babysitter home and when I walk in the door I hear, Aricka, Dexter is throwing up. FREAK!!! So I walk in and see Dexter standing in the kitchen with puke in his hair and all over his clothes. I am so thankful because I have not been able to smell for the past week. That would have definitely set off a barf-o-rama.

Dan tackled the bed and I tackled Dexter. After getting him cleaned up and dressed we put him in his sleeping bag with a bucket to throw up in. 10 minutes later Dexter comes up crying. He threw up again. He did great getting it into the bucket the first three times and then on the fourth time right into his sleeping bag. After that I was like, get this man a sheet and a new bucket pronto. To keep a better eye on him we put him in our room, on a sheet, with a bucket. I am not even kidding you, from 10 at night to 6 in the morning Dexter threw up every 20 minutes. I was hanging over the bed trying to help him get his puke into his bucket. Around 2 I almost fell out of the bed until I felt this leg grab my leg and save me. Thank goodness for Dan who felt the jerk and knew I was about to go overboard. From 2 to 5 I was saved by Dan and his body from falling right on the floor onto Dexter and with my luck right into the puke bucket. There were a couple times were I felt Dan's whole body flop on top of mine. It was a quick jerk to the rescue of Dexter, to a, Oh my gosh I can't breath! I have to make a quick recovery from the black out I just had so puke doesn't get on the floor.

Finally at 7 in the morning Dexter stops puking every 20 minutes and adds a whopping 10 minutes to his time. So now, right now he is puking about every 30 minutes. How long will this last? Who knows. Will my other 3 children get it? Probably.

This is my attempt to paint Hippie. I thought I would be able to sketch him with pencil first and then paint it in. That was not the case. The pencil didn't even show up on the canvas so I had to paint it blind. Hippie looks very sad in this pic, and well all the time cause he is a bulldog with gigantic jowls.

Every once in awhile a little bit of my ghetto comes out. At one point in my life I was hard core gangsta. I was like 10, and I was sewwww tuff! Well this past Saturday I was lucky enough to go shred or fall down the Targhee mountain. Thanks to my nice brother and sister in law. I had a really fun time it was awesome hanging out with friends getting into an argument with a sheriff that pulled us over. The sheriff had Superman vision. He just happened to see that my tags were expired on my Escalade while we were going 65 miles an hour and he was parked on the side of the road. He wasn't even behind us moving when he spotted my oh so ever expired tags. This is how the conversation went,

Sheriff: Your tags are expired.
Me: No they're not (O yea, and I am not even driving)
Sheriff:( now with an amused smirk on his face) When I pull someone over I usually know what I am talking about. If you don't think I am right then you can get out and show me.
Me: (I get out of the car slowly but surly, walk over to the front of the vehicle and point real fast.) THERE!
Sheriff: They expired in the month of December.
Me: Oh, I am really sorry about that. ( and I am hoping for a run away vehicle to run me down at this point, no luck)
In the end the sheriff let us go and we were told to get that taken care of. It is now Weds and I still need to take care of it.
We finally get to Targhee and do a couple of runs/learn to snowboard, and I see someone from our ward. Dan and I talk to her and her husband and son for awhile and then decide we were going to do one more run and then go into the lodge and have some hot chocolate with chips and salsa. Bad combo by the way, the salsa was a little hot and the hot chocolate didn't do a dang thing to help. So Dan and I are coming up on the lodge and I am exhausted somewhat frustrated that I am no Shawn White, YET! and this girl comes up behind me and just WHACKS! me with her body. It was very much on purpose. I was like what the crap, am I in a hockey game I didn't know about! My brain then shut off and my mouth opened, YOU LITTLE BITC!! I shouted that out at Targhee right by the lift. I shouted that infront of my brother in law, my neighbor, husband, the kid I used to teach in Sunday school, the guy from my ward and you guessed it! the girl that I called a little bitc!! was his wife who is in my ward that I just talked to. She thought it would be funny to check me. I don't know if she was ready for the verbal assault, but she got it anyways. I was so shocked and embarrassed that it was her. I just stood there and I thought I cannot believe that I just said that. It took me about 30 minutes to realize what had just happened and then I started to laugh and couldn't stop. Every other minute I would replay the car crash in my head and just start busting up laughing. Then a thought came to me. I have not really changed when it comes to my temper. I need to get a hold of my actions. Dan told me, "If you ever get into a fight, you better win!" I hope that I will never have to. I am so grateful that the person I called the bi was who it was. On the way home I said some doozeys. There was something like, "when I cry, people get hurt." or I think my wording was changed into that. I don't know, big shrug. This post is coming out of the blue. I am not talking about anyone I know, I haven't been attacked by any jealous person. I am just getting something off my chest just because.

   People, stand back, take a look, and see why you are getting jealous of other people. It is nonsense. I was totally guilty of it at an earlier point in my life and then one day I stopped to really think about, (why?) Why, is the question you need to ask yourself when the green monster starts to flair. Yes, it's like gonorrhea, it sometimes flares up. There are times when I do wonder if I could be doing better in my life, but the person that is doing great in their life, doesn't deserve you bad mouthing them. I just want to give you some key points to think about before you start mentally destroying this other female, or male with your mind. It's not only a waste of your thoughts it chips away at your self esteem.

Okay so here is one thing to consider. The person that you are jealous of has flaws. They have doubts and regrets and worries just like everyone else. And I know they might be better looking so when they are feeling insecure they are doing it in style, but really who cares.

Check your insecurities at the door. No one is good at everything. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. If someone comes over and tells you blatantly that you suck. They are insecure, they are trying to take the attention off their ugly faces! Did I just sound insecure? All that really matters is that you have a family that loves you and you are a daughter or son of Heavenly Father.
Don't complain about your life, either do something to fix it and make it all better or just deal with it and spare people the Debbie Downer conversations.

    I have had a lot of smack in the faces, but this one has always stuck with me. Long ago I worked at Dillard's. I was newly pregnant with my first baby and I was severely sick. I now know that I had a disease when I was pregnant. I didn't know then. Well I was complaining to this lady at work about how sick I was and I couldn't handle it. I wasn't able to eat or drink anything and I was going on and on and on. When I stopped to change the string on my violin, she finally got two words in and said, "I would do anything to be able to have a baby, I can't have children. You are lucky you can even get pregnant." I did not know what to say. I felt horrible I was looking for a shovel so I could dig a hole. I never had to go through the pain of waiting for a child. So, before you complain make sure your stick is shorter then someone else stick... you know what I mean? So I know this post is reaching out to tons of woman, like three, maybe if some are bored. Ask yourself Why? First. Is it worth getting jealous or insecure about? Probably not. Look at your life and accomplishments and if you don't like what you see then CHANGE IT!

Oh, Oh, Oh and one more thing. Don't use the phrase, "They're just jealous of me." Let one of your nice friends say it for you in your behalf. You sound like a conceited person if you say, they are just jealous of me. You might be right but if every girl hates you it is probably something you are doing. Not everyone in the world is jealous of you. I know I have a big mouth sometimes and I come off judgmental, I know it's not just jealousy, some people really don't like me. Anyways, all you ladies and fellas out there that think you are a victim of jealousy make sure you are just not being vain.

Reunion Nightmares

So when it's 1 in the morning, what else better to do then to dread going to your 10 year high school reunion. Forget about sleep, or any chance of having a dream that didn't involve your high school reunion. Now that I have thought about it so long I am bound to have a nightmare about it. Just the typical, showing up naked or falling flat on your face when you walk in. Booger in the nose would suck too.I mean don't get me wrong I would love to see my old friends but how nerve racking! I haven 't talked to some of these people in 10 years. I was a total different Aricka when I hung out with them. Hopefully they like the "adult"aka boring compared to what I used to be Aricka. I need to take some kind of sleep aid and go to sleep or I am going to be a grouchy beast in the morning. One thing that is comforting, is knowing that Dan will be there with me.

Never Say Never!

When I was younger I used to think that I would be the complete opposite from my parents on disciplining. I am sadly falling into the dirty trap. When I was younger, and way more immature, I would say, "I am never giving my kids a bedtime, they can stay up as long as they want." "I am not going to make them eat healthy foods." "I will always let them have candy at any time of the day." Here is a famous one that I said all the time to my mom, "I will let my daughter wear make-up at any age." I have said these famous lines to my parents, "I hate you!!" "You have ruined my life!!" and now, as a parent, I am hearing those same lines, with some new ones added, "You are not invited to my party!!" Well who do you think is going to pay for your party you little shi! "I am going to not give you a hug!" Everyday my kids think of new ways to really put it to me. The weird thing is that after you get told I hate you a few times it doesn't bother you anymore. It's like, yaya go to your room. I sometimes have to remember to pick my battles with my chillins. I can be too hard on them sometimes. It really just depends on what the subject is. I have a hard time when my children are disrespectful to adults. I was taught, you listen to the adults and don't back talk them. Well these days you teach your children to listen to adults but if they ever tell you to take your clothes off you say No! and come tell me. Times have definitely changed. Nowadays you are preparing your kids for every horrible outcome out there in this dirty world. You only tell them these rules because you love them. You want them to eat healthy so they can grow up to be healthy kids and then adults. You tell your daughter she can't wear make-up for a number of reasons. First, she is way too young and beautiful to be worrying about that crap, 2nd you want her to grow into her own person without the world telling her how she should look and 3rd they really can't put it on that great at a young age so lets just avoid the circus.
Splashing in the tub used to be one of my pet peeves. I hated when the floor got wet when my kids were in the tub. They would splash and I would yell! It took me 5 years to get over the splashing. Poor Zeke never got to enjoy the splashing at the Beck household because by the time I let it go, he started taking showers.
Today I had a new opportunity to keep my cool. I was in my room making my bed and cleaning up. Kingston was asleep, Zeke and Zara were at school and Dexter was in the computer room watching Toy Story 2. I am done cleaning my room and decide to start another load of laundry so I start walking down stairs and hear all this commotion comimg from the computer room where Dexter is. I slow down on the stairs and now I am sneaking down rather than just walking normal. I can see into the room from the stairs and I see Dexter quickly hiding something. I don't know what it is yet but I just can't wait to see what I am going to be picking up! Orange peels! Dexter is pushing and shoving orange peels into Dan's recliner. The only chair Dan is comfortable sitting in, in the entire house now has a citrus aroma. I looked at Dexter like, what in the heck are you doing? He looked at me like he just got caught trying to grow an orange tree in the middle of our living room. I kept my cool and said, "go to your room and think about why you shouldn't shove orange peels in the couch." Five seconds later he was out of his room yelling at me for telling him to go to his room. Sometimes I will just sit and think, how will my kids be as adults. I teach them the correct principals and I let them govern themselves. Sometimes, I like Satan's plan. Make them do what you want!! On dates I would love to be there telling them everything they can and cannot do. I can teach them until I am blue in the face but if there is a lesson they need to learn then they are gonna learn it somehow. That is very scary to me. So right now being a mom of four to six and under, I will take splashing anytime and hiding any kind of fruit in the couch over pregnancy, drugs, lying, stealing, drinking and sneaking around. I am going to enjoy all the small crap now and hope it lasts a long long time.

For Christmas my mom sent me a gift card to Old Navy. If anyone knows me then they know I love to shop. I don't care who I am shopping for or what I am shopping for. I get excited to shop for chap stick. And it just so happens that my sweet mother in law bought my kids some clothes from Old Navy. Some of the clothes didn't fit my little Kingston, so I needed to exchange. I mean come on, she is shopping for 10 grandkids. I have a hard time doing it for just my four. So since my mom gave me a gift card and I needed to exchange some things, I thought I would pick up Zeke and Zara from school and we would go to Old Navy!! So I pull up and try to surprise them and I am smiling big hoping they don't notice that I am picking them up and as soon as they see me they're like, mom why can't we ride the bus?! Wha, Wha, Wha. So I ignore their cry, like every good mom does and we head to Old Navy. My mom lives in California and she really misses my kids and feels bad that she is not closer to them. So I let the kids know that this gift card is from their grandma Kim in California and she wants them to buy what they want. It was a good idea at first. As soon as my kids came across those stupid Old Navy balls that are like five dollars, not even the big ones I am talking about the dwarf balls. (No offense to dwarfs or their balls) All four of my kids hit the ground begging for those little balls. I said, no, grandma doesn't want you to buy that. Then when I saw their disapproving faces about my poor mom who has nothing to do with it, I changed the wording. I mean, grandma really wants you to buy cool clothes that you will want to wear everyday. Another bad comment, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. So the three older ones 6, 5 and 3 are running around Old Navy picking up every newborn, 8T, 12to24 month clothing until I finally say, okay here are your sizes, go find what you like. I am actually pretty impressed on what they picked out. Zeke was trying to be responsible so he picked out socks that he really needed and some cute shirts. Zara wanted a cute beanie with gloves and we all know what happens when I pick out the beanie. Death to mom!! Dexter comes back with a black shirt with a huge heart on it that says I Love Music. hmmm... I guess that's okay. Right. So after the shopping spree at Old Navy we had to return a game to Barnes and Noble and on the way to Barnes and Noble, guess who we see? I will give you a little hint: Ho Ho Ho! Yea, we see Santa!! Duh, it's a mall, Aricka you idiot. So trying to be a good sport about the whole Christmas thing and making it special for the kids I wait in line for... I don't know, an hour! The whole time Kingston is screaming and wanting out of the stroller. I can't take him out because you know those dwarf balls at Old Navy, yea, I got him one and he wanted to throw it at every person that walked by. Zeke and Zara were both asking me, mom is that the real Santa? I said yes of coarse. And my nose grew.I totally lied straight to their faces and I felt bad. I wanted to say, well no but the real Santa is so busy getting ready to deliver all those toys around the world that he had to send his look alike.(I know it is still lying) When my kids asked that question they didn't exactly say it in a whisper so immediately I had eyes burning through my skull waiting for me to answer the question. Not only from the kids but from every adult in there taking their kid to see this look alike. After getting a big fat headache we reached Santa. It was the norm, the kids sat next to Santa, Kingston would only sit on Zeke. Zeke was telling Santa everything that he wanted for Christmas and I think for the rest of his life. Santa gave me a look like, okay take your kid he is talking my ear off. Well 12 dollars later we have proof that my kids saw Santa in the year of 2009. As we are leaving my kids and I have to walk by all those overpriced toys that you can sit in and it goes up and down or side to side. They all want their own ride so I dish out $1.50 so they can pretend they are flying in a real helicopter. (Kingston is still happy with the dwarf ball, so he doesn't need to ride) Whelp, to make a long story short only one of the rides worked and I lost 50 cents and gained 2 whining children. The parents that were watching looked at me like, ohh you lost money too, sorry. Why didn't they tell me? Oh I know misery loves company! So after the mechanical disappointment we are finally off to our car. I came in Dillard's and I went out Dillard's but I went out the wrong door in Dillard's. I was walking with my four kids in the snow with the wind blowing around the mall trying to find our truck. It seemed like we were out there for about 15 minutes. Finally!! our truck!! We get in, we buckle up, THEN, I HAVE TO GO PEE! Are you freakin kidding me? Someone, please shoot me! I can't hold it together anymore, I stood in line for an hour to see Santa, gained a headache, lost 50 cents, I bought a dwarf ball, I forgot where I parked and now my kids are all gonna pee their pants cause I am not taking them back into the MALL!!! Merry Christmas Everyone and Have a Happy New Year!

I haven't been keeping Coke in the house because I have been trying to not drink it. I might as well have installed a Coke vending machine. The Weanie Beanie

Last night I went to my friends Winter Bizarre full of cute kid clothes, beanies, hair accessories, everything that parents like and only wish their kids liked so they could justify buying them clothing for Christmas instead of a toy that they are going to forget about in about a weeks time. Well my friend who was putting on the Bizarre gave me a beanie that was very cute in my opinion. Brown knit beanie with a huge orange flower on the side. It's not only cute but practical, it is so cold outside that it hurts and although my daughter has to only run across our yard to catch her bus and it seems that they are no longer having recess due to this arctic chill, I still feel like her head needs to be warm for that small amount of time. My daughter and I go round and round every morning about what she is going to wear and how her hair will be done. Well she yelled, kicked, screamed and freaked out about wearing this beanie. She said, "It looks so stupid, I don't wanna wear a weanie on my head!" Yes... she said weanie. I was like, what? You mean beanie. She got a huge grin on her face and started laughing. I was laughing as well, sorry if that makes me not a very good example and I didn't feel the need to have the "birds and the bees talk" just then. She was just so overly frustrated that I think she was thinking, My mom is a weanie!! and then it accidentally left her head and came out her sweet five year old mouth. Totally innocent and funny. I did however manage to get a cute picture of her with this weanie beanie on.

Just some venting!

Most of you probably don't know, but I have braces. I am 27 years old and I got braces put on when I was barely 25 years old. I was told in the beginning of the ortho adventure that I would have these suckers off in 18 months. I mentally prepared myself for having metal in my mouth for that long. Going through anniversaries, Christmas parties, pictures and the dreaded high school reunion for my husband. It is hard to look good when your face is screaming, "look at me, I look like I am 12!! and I even have a little bit of acne!" Yet, I went to his reunion and every other activity with a smile on my face. My friends are nice and say, "you look good with braces, I forget you have them on." I know they are lying. It's a nice lie, but I know they're lying. I got my braces on May 5th, the big Cinco De Mayo. I have been counting down since that day. Every once in awhile I will ask my ortho, "when do you think they will come off?" I have had a number of answers. First he told me I will have them off you by your 7 year anniversary, which was Sept 12th of 2009 and when that day passed I asked again, his response, "I will make it a Christmas present to you from me." I was pretty excited about that even one of his assistants said, "I bet after this next visit he will say we can take them off this next time you come in." Well I had a appt today and I was thinking that I had a good chance of getting them off on the 23rd of December. Right before Christmas. No. That is not the case, I have another appt on January 11th to have more detailing done!!! I don't even get to see the ortho for the rest of this month!! I am taking these braces into the next year!! 2010 Holy crap whatever happened to 18 months. I have absolutely no clue when I am getting my braces off. The ortho said since I am old my teeth move slower. My teeth are like 90 years old with how slow they are moving. My husband about a month ago said, "I don't think you will get your braces off in December, I bet it will be January 15th." Whelp, he's wrong too! I would have even taken that date. All I can say is that when and if they ever come off I better have the straightest teeth I have ever seen!

So it is 1:07 in the morning and I have been asking myself, Do I really like my blog? Hmm... Not really. To be honest most of the clothes that I am posting I would never wear. I do not wear high heals all day, I do not wear dressy clothes unless there is a wedding or some event that I would be frowend upon for wearing street clothes. Even then, only my shirt is a little dressy and if I am lucky I can sport some heels. Don't get me wrong, I am a sucker for high heels. I am LDS so I am constantly looking for modest clothing to wear to church. Which is incredibly hard, please mini skirts go away! Not only because I can't wear them but because a lot of people wearing them should not be wearing them. So when I do find that G covering outfit the only thing that saves me from looking absolutely boring is my high heels. I know I am not at church to put on a fashion show, but really, I like to feel like my personality is still in there somewhere. So these are my thoughts for my blog. Keep in mind that I have never got into blogging before this, I do not scrapbook, I am somewhat crafty but if it looks homemade then I think it's just tacky. I suck at grammer and am probably using more then half of these punctuations wrong, but, Oh -well if you don't like my posts then you can just look at the clothes. So here goes... I am only going to be posting clothing and styles that I would wear. If you don't like Volcom, Anthropologie, Daytrip, RVCA or Urban Outfitters then this blog is NOT for you. The thing that gets me most upset about people is when they are not being themselves. The things that I have been posting are cute and pretty and I am not a cute and pretty kind of girl. That was the blogger pit I fell into when I started this blog. I was reading all these "Mormon blogs" (which are fine) but that got me into thinking that there was only one kind of blog, sweet and socially acceptable. After hearing some shout outs about these other "non-Mormon" blogs (which again I am not dissing) I started to see more of what I like. Some are too much for me but they caught my attention and kept ME interested. My own blog wasn't even doing that. It was lacking something, a big part of what a blog is about. It definitely was lacking my personality and my style. Now if we are going to be honest here, If I could pick a time era to travel back and live in it would be the 50's. I would wear an apron with a dress and heels and have dinner on the table for my family at 5pm everyday. I would never let my husband or anyone for that matter see me without being completely done up. This person that I would love to live like is almost the opposite of how I am now. Like I said, I don't dress up, I, on a occasions wear higheels. I do love my husband and family but sometimes we don't all eat together at 5, sometimes ha we actually never eat before 6. My husband has seen me at my worst with throw up coming out my nose and into my hair with no shower for a good week. He still loves me, thank goodness. I was raised with one brother who had a lot to do with the person I shaped out to be. I don't know if he even knows this. I love you bro hymn. Anyways, because of my big brother I learned a lot of things that girls miss out on when they are either born older then their brother or they are just not that close to their brother. I was very close to my brother and therefore learned how to skateboard, play the drums on metal trashcan lids, make lengthy songs out of cuss words, fight, know how to take a punch to the face, keep in mind we were children of a very dysfunctional home. But one thing that my brother had a huge part in, was the way I dressed. I didn't dress like a ho when I was younger. I liked to dress in skate clothes or comfy clothes. I wasn't into the tube tops, short shorts, short skirts. I feel like I am fairly comfortable in my skin and how I am as a person. So to make a long story short, I am going to only post things that I would wear. Wow, I did not mean for that to be that long.

Top 5 Arm Toning Exercises

Here are my favorite exercises for working the arms and getting them nice and toned.

1 - Bar Bell Bicep Curls

This should be the core bicep exercise in your bicep routine. It allows you to go heavy and is one of the easiest to do in terms of getting the technique correct.
How to - Stand with feet shoulder width apart and lift up the bar bell. Lift up your chest so that your shoulders are lower than your chest but your back is still straight. Curl the bar bell up to just above your pectoral muscles and slowly lower back down.
It is of paramount importance that your elbows do not move during this exercise. Make sure they stay solid next to your side.

2 - Skull Crushers

This is a tricep exercise that will pack on the progress if you do it correctly. If you don’t, it might pack on the injuries!
How to - Lie on a flat bench and take light bar bell. Lift the weight over your head with your palms facing the roof. Now shift the weight backwards so if you were to drop it it would land on the floor behind your head and so that your triceps are pointing behind you instead of straight up. In this fixed position, lift the weight up until you have a straight arm and then lower it slowly until you get a deep stretch.

3 - Alternate Dumb Bell Curl

The alternate dumb bell curl is a great biceps exercise as it allows you to focus on one arm at a time and gives the other arm a rest. For this reason you can handle more weight and perfect your technique at the same time.
How to - Take two dumb bells and stand with your back straight. Assuming the same position as in the bar bell curl, curl one dumb bell up to your shoulder as if you were trying to curl it PAST your shoulder. This gives a tighter contraction. Slowly lower the dumb bell and rotating it until it is in the resting position by your side, lift the other weight at the same time.
Tip - Make sure this exercise is done slowly and with extra control.

4 - Close Grip Bench Press

This exercise allows you to use a heavy weight in a safe way. However, it is slightly more tricky to perform than it looks.
How to - Take a medium bar bell and lie on a flat bench. Push the bar bell up until you arms are locked and then lower it down slowly. Just before it hits your chest push it up quickly with a little bouncing motion for about two inches. This short stop and bounce stops your chest muscles coming into play here and keeps the weight on your triceps. It’s a great secret.

5 - Cable Curls

How to - It is exactly the same as the bar bell curl but there is a constant tension on your muscles because the cable is always trying to pull the weight back down. For this reason you will find it much harder to handle a lot of weight. Remember to keep your elbows still and your chest up.
